School Boundary Change Information Coming Soon
A Boundary Advisory Committee recently met to discuss and review possible solutions for the constant increase in student enrollment and to alleviate overcapacity of schools in the KCKPS District.
As a result of the review, the advisory committee has recommended boundary changes, which will have an impact on some of our KCKPS schools, students, and their families.
The KCKPS District will notify the students and families that are directly impacted by the boundary changes by a letter mailed to the home, email and/or text.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Lenora Miller, Executive Director of Operations, for KCKPS at 913-279-2269 or Lenora.Miller@kckps.org.
Ages and Stages Questionnaires for Kindergarten Parents
We are about to embark on the 2019-2020 school year and we can’t wait! We are excited to begin the year in our new building with a new beginning. Some new changes at our building are that we will not have uniforms. The spring survey conveyed that parents would like this change and the board confirmed this change. Students may wear regular clothing to school and you will find our dress code policy on the back of this letter.
Additionally we will likely have our “Back to School Night” at a later date because of the continued work on the school grounds. Our school grounds are not complete. We won’t begin the school year with a playground and they will likely put down some sod and install this at a later date. We look forward to planning this getting to know you event at a later date.
The first day of school we will start teaching and learning. We will begin with the rules and showing our students the building. Please know that we will begin promptly at 8:30 so teachers will not have time to meet and greet parents on that first morning. If you would like to schedule with them a time to meet after school they would be happy to do so. Student enrollment this year will be held at JFK Elementary, 2600 N. 72nd Street, starting Monday, July 22nd. Enrollment hours will be Monday-Thursday, 8:30-4:30.
Enjoy the rest of the summer and we will see you on August 7th!!
